Reproductive Injustice and Racism with Professor Dana-Ain Davis
Dr. Dan interviews Professor Dána-Ain Davis about reproductive racism and injustice as well as her recent book Reproductive Injustice: Racism, Pregnancy, and Premature Birth on today’s important episode. Their conversation sheds much-needed light on one of today’s most important cultural, social, and political issues - obstetric racism. It is a must-listen for everyone.
Dr. Davis specializes in black studies, family/sexual violence, reproductive rights, poverty/welfare policy, and women’s studies. She has authored or co-authored Battered Black Women and Welfare Reform, Feminist Activist Ethnography, Black Genders and Sexuality as well as a number of articles on women and welfare policy.
Dána-Ain Davis MPH, Ph.D. received her PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center in anthropology in 2001. Before joining Queens College in 2007, she was Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Coordinator of the Global Black Studies Program at SUNY/Purchase.
Dr. Davis is also the co editor of TransformingAnthropology, the journal of the Association of Black Anthropologists and a doula.
